Introduction to Oil-Gas Separation Barrel of ORMD Screw Air Compressor

Time:2026-05-27 14:39:24

The oil-gas separation barrel, also known as the oil separator tank, is a core pressure-bearing component of a screw air compressor’s lubrication and gas purification system. It is specially designed to separate compressed air from lubricating oil mist and liquid oil droplets. As a key guarantee for producing clean compressed air and realizing cyclic oil supply, it directly affects the air quality, operating efficiency, energy consumption and service life of the entire screw air compressor unit.

During the operation of a screw air compressor, the air end mixes air with a large amount of lubricating oil for cooling, sealing and lubrication. The discharged oil-air mixture is in a high-speed turbulent state, containing liquid oil, suspended fine oil mist and pure compressed air. The oil-gas separation barrel undertakes the task of efficient two-phase separation, separating lubricating oil from the air mixture to recycle the oil and output oil-free standard compressed air.
Oil-Gas Separator
The equipment adopts a multi-stage physical separation structure with no chemical reaction, featuring safe operation and high separation efficiency. Its interior is mainly composed of an inlet flow deflector, a gravity settling zone, a high-precision oil separation core, an oil return pipeline, a safety pressure valve and a liquid level monitoring structure. After the oil-air mixture enters the barrel, the first-stage inertial separation is completed through the flow guide structure; large-particle liquid oil drops are separated rapidly and settle to the bottom of the tank. Then the airflow slowly passes through the gravity settling zone to remove medium-sized oil droplets. Finally, the ultra-fine oil mist is captured, collided and condensed by the high-density glass fiber filter layer of the oil separation core, realizing fine deep separation.

After separation, the purified compressed air is discharged from the air outlet to enter the subsequent air processing system, while the condensed lubricating oil gathers at the bottom of the separation barrel and flows back to the compressor host through the automatic oil return pipeline for cyclic reuse, which greatly reduces oil consumption and operating costs. Equipped with a pressure relief safety device, the oil-gas separation barrel can stabilize the internal working pressure of the unit, avoid overpressure operation risks, and ensure the stable and safe operation of the screw air compressor.

With compact structure, strong pressure resistance, stable separation performance and low failure rate, the screw air compressor oil-gas separation barrel is suitable for long-term continuous industrial operation. It effectively solves the problems of excessive oil content in compressed air, pipeline oil pollution and equipment wear, ensures the output air meets industrial production standards, and is an indispensable core accessory for standard screw air compressors used in machinery manufacturing, chemical industry, electronics, food processing and other industries.
